Where we work today

Triumph Yachts is a brokerage for luxury motor and sailing yachts from 20m upward, working across Europe and the UAE. Triumph's brokers carry a working read of the whole of it, the yachts worth knowing and the buyers already looking, mapped on our own platform. They turn that into one clear strategy. For every client, buying or selling, that means a broker whose experience is sharpened by technology and spent entirely on their result. Transparency, through intelligence.

Buying a luxury yacht: your questions answered

Before your first conversation with our brokers, here are the answers most buyers look for.

You can buy privately, but a broker protects your interests and saves time. Triumph manages the whole acquisition end to end: defining your brief, sourcing on- and off-market yachts, arranging viewings, negotiating, coordinating the survey and sea trial, handling contracts and registration, and overseeing delivery. A dedicated Triumph broker is your single point of contact throughout.
A brokerage yacht has had a previous owner and is available now, usually at a lower price than a comparable new build. New construction is commissioned and built to your specification at a shipyard, giving full customisation but a longer timeline and higher cost. Triumph advises on both and manages the process either way.
Price is driven by length, age, builder pedigree, hull material, condition and maintenance history, onboard specification, and current location. Larger, newer yachts from renowned shipyards command the most, while relocation, tax status and market conditions also affect the final figure. Your broker benchmarks each yacht against comparable recent sales.
The main options are GRP/composite (light and low-maintenance, common below 40m), aluminium (light and strong, popular for faster and larger yachts), and steel (durable and favoured for larger displacement and explorer yachts). The best choice depends on size, range, speed and intended use. There's no single right answer, and your broker will guide the trade-offs.
Typically: brief and shortlist, viewings, an offer and signed agreement with a deposit held in escrow, then survey and sea trial, acceptance and price adjustment, closing, and delivery. A straightforward brokerage purchase often completes in a few weeks to a couple of months; new construction runs from months to a few years depending on the build.
A deposit of around 10% of the purchase price is usually paid once an offer is accepted. It is held in a separate client or escrow account, not released to the seller until agreed conditions are met, so your funds are safeguarded until closing.
On a sale, the seller pays the commission, which is agreed in writing in the listing agreement and shared between brokers where two firms are involved. As a buyer, you generally do not pay a separate brokerage fee for our search and advisory.
A qualified marine surveyor inspects the yacht's structure, systems and equipment, while the sea trial tests performance under way. The buyer usually pays for the survey and haul-out; your broker attends, helps interpret findings, and uses them to renegotiate price or agree remedial works before you commit.
As a rule of thumb, annual running costs are often around 10% of the yacht's value, covering crew, berthing, insurance, fuel, maintenance, refit reserves and management. Actual figures vary widely with size, usage and cruising area, so we help you build a realistic budget before you buy.
Registering a yacht assigns it a flag state and nationality; popular choices include the Cayman Islands, Malta, the Marshall Islands, Gibraltar and the Isle of Man, each with different rules. VAT and import duty depend on where and how the yacht is used and owned. We coordinate with specialist legal, tax and registration advisers to structure ownership correctly.
